Proposals for Lead Newspaper Article: List of resolutions for the New Year
Those who used this beginning part of January to make an assessment of the past year decided to spend their time looking back and perhaps even feeling sorry for themselves. We curvy girls are more positive, let’s face it, being like us involves a dose of maturity, irony and positivity that does not go along very well with regrets, but gets along very well with projects.
We decided to start our 2020 blog with a few tips for a list of New Year’s Resolutions, as they call it in English-speaking countries
“The resolutions rooted in a caustic self-criticism or a desire to “fix yourself up” are an expression of a toxic approach and tend not to work,” suggests Nicole Nenninger, a New York-based life coach, who suggests starting by thinking about what would be the best version of you (not the “fixed-up to an unattainable model” version, but simply the “improved” version). So, my curvy friends, let’s write up our list of intentions for 2020 based on the best version of us that we want to become.
Cook something new every week
Everyone wants to eat healthier in the new year, but you should also try eating a greater variety of foods. After all, variety is the spice of life. This year, at least once a week, choose a simple dinner recipe that you’ve never tried before. Dinner is technically the meal that should be lighter, for a better digestion; there are a number of blogs about healthy cooking, and the recipes are often videos, so all you have to do is try it out!
Take 10 minutes to quickly climb the stairs to your office or home
A study which appeared in the journal Physiology & Behavior found that tired women who climbed stairs for 10 minutes had a higher energy intake than those who had the equivalent of caffeine in a cup of coffee (and they had even burned calories!).
Grow a plant, even a small one
Next weekend, go to a nursery or a plant market and buy a plant: a study found that actively caring for a plant calms the autonomous nervous system and lowers blood pressure, so the presence of houseplants can lower the levels of human stress. And when people work near plants, they report greater concentration, satisfaction and perceived air quality.
Drink more
Yes, we know that you know you need to hydrate, so we are only adding that it is particularly important when you sleep only six hours (or less!). You are more likely to be dehydrated the day after a short night’s sleep because a hormone that regulates the conservation of your body’s water is released in the deeper sleep phases that activates AFTER six hours. So, drink a little more water on days when you sleep less: There are many free apps to install on your cell that remind you to drink, we assure you they work!
Decorate your home with the history of your family
There are places in the world where people live a more peaceful and rewarding life, such as Denmark, Costa Rica, Singapore; it has been observed that the inhabitants of these areas often exhibit objects from the their families’ past, says Dan Buettner, author of “The Blue Zone of Happiness” and he continues: “Happy people remember and honor where they come from”. “We find that in the happiest populations in the world, the people feel part of a temporal continuum, as if the time of the past had passed by in a flow of many moments.” So, instead of taking up space with beautiful, but meaningless knick-knacks, find the portrait of your grandparents’ wedding or exhibit objects on the shelves that recall significant moments in the history of your family.
We have given you some ideas, now curvy friend, get going on creating your list of good intentions to meet the best version of you.
