How much does it cost to give a smile?
This is what the entrepreneur Michele Carillo asked himself when Dr. Agostino Ambrosio, almost as a joke, asks him to bring a smile to those children who have known him for years only through his gifts.
President Carillo immediately understood that he needed this experience himself.
Certainly leaving everything and going to discover nothing was an act of extreme solidarity but he does not like that this gesture is identified as such as he says with extreme humility that it was the children who gave something to him… .their contentment the essentials, their smiling for a caress, their tenacity in going to get, barefoot, drinking water km from the village and return full of joy as if they had the World Cup in their hands, gave him so much , just as much for many and nothing.
Interviewing President Carillo, it was an emotion, I didn’t need anything, I didn’t record, I didn’t ask questions, I didn’t collect information but only emotions, it was enough to ask him where he had been and without thinking about it, even for a second he asked me catapulted into a dimension unknown to me;
his words sent me the love with which he lived that experience; the story of the songs and games in the open area where it was enough for Father Michele to be there, so they called him, Father Michele, to make everything more beautiful, he had never sung with any child and there he taught catchy songs, lunches cooked together, the day he made the pizza, when before starting to cook he had to take two large bowls full of water and wash the trays together with the children to be able to prepare it and with his eyes full of emotion he finally had me said that every single child he has known in that village far from the world is richer than we are because the greatest wealth is that of gratitude to life.
